Sustaining Inclusion

India's socio-economic landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, with rural household incomes witnessing a substantial increase, indicating a shift towards greater economic parity. Reports suggest that consumption in rural areas are growing at a faster rate than their urban counterparts, driven by factors such as increased income levels, discretionary spending, and the adoption of online retail. Despite these positive trends, challenges persist in achieving inclusive growth. The need for comprehensive socio-economic inclusion strategies is evident, as is the development of robust equity indicators that can effectively measure parameters like income distribution, employment and labour market participation, housing and living conditions, social capital, community participation, climate resilience and sustainability and access to financial services. Addressing these challenges requires a multi-faceted approach, including policy measures that focus on livelihoods, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social equality, as well as fostering technological advancements that can bridge gaps across various socio-economic dimensions. This session will delve into the reasons behind these inequalities, identify agents of change and explore solutions to foster inclusive and sustainable growth for all.
